Old Home Place Recordings
Filmmaker Aaron Stone and audio engineer Bridger Dunnagan met in Asheville, NC, in 2021, brought together by a shared love of music and the surrounding community. Eager to capture the sights and sounds of Western North Carolina’s vibrant music scene, the two began documenting musicians through a series of video projects that would become Old Home Place Recordings. They started by recording friends’ original songs and traditional music played at household gatherings, and they soon began capturing performances of other musicians living in and passing through the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Recording in intimate settings in various locations, viewers get to see and hear the music of Western North Carolina while getting a glimpse of the performers’ story in a unique time and place. An Old Home Place Recording might occur inside a barn on a family farm, in the back room of a dive bar, or at a nationally acclaimed theater. Tying these performances to special locations creates a sense of place for artists and viewers alike.
